Don't Attack Anybody in Retaliation - Dakpema Palace to Tamale youth

The Dakpema Palace has directed its supporters and residents of Tamale not to retaliate on yesterday's Monday, 8th March 2022 attack.

The attack left about four persons at the palace and a nearby house with gunshot wounds.

At a press conference today, spokesperson for the Dakpemli family, Mr. Basharu Dabale said Naa Dakpema Bawa Fuseini does not subscribe to any form of retaliation or violence in support of yesterday's gunmen attack.

"No member of the Dakpema family should attack anybody in retaliation, Naa Dakpema says we should leave the case to the police to investigate this criminal attack, the official position of the palace is that we are appealing to the police to look for the perpetrators of the heinous crime to ensure that law and order are maintained in Tamale".

According to him, Tamale is the home of their forefathers, so, therefore, the Dakpema palace will not wage war against anybody in the Metropolis.

"We will be the last People to wage war against anybody in Tamale here, we will not resort to violence to drum home our demand, that will be our last ultimatum, we are appealing to politicians and traditional authorities to delink Chieftaincy out from this armed attack, it's an armed attack and it will be treated as such".

According to him, the Dakpema palace has no chieftaincy issue with any Chieftaincy divide in the Northern Region.

He cautioned the public to avoid taking the leniency of the palace as weakness. "Nobody should take our leniency as our weakness, what we want is peace and nothing else".

Mr. Basharu noted that the palace has reported the matter to the police just for the peace of the Metropolis and its adjoining communities.

According to him, they will give the police the needed support but if they fail to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators, the palace will assume the security service is condoning with criminals.
