The Asunafo South District Officer of Ghana Statistical Service, Mr Addai Osman Bukari has called on residents of Asunafo South not to politicize the upcoming population and housing census exercise.

Speaking to Soireenews Sulley Dramani, in an interview at Kukuom, Mr Addai said "some developments at certain parts of the country had suggested that some people wanted to politicize such an important national exercise which is vital in the development of the country."

He expressed that he is very disappointed that some residents seem to love their political lineage more than the nation itself.

He also pointed out that "this exercise is not one that should be influenced by the political party but be focused on national development."

He also debunked the idea that exercise is being done to help the ruling party maintain their seat in government.

The Asunafo South District Officer of Ghana Statistical Service appealed to people who had such notions to alter their thinking and co-operate to make the exercise a success.

He appealed to the enumerators and the supervisors conducting the exercise to do their best to ensure that they got to the people, and urged the people to exercise patience in answering the questionnaires.
