Goldfields Ghana Limited Damang Mine on Friday, June 4th 2021 educated some students in its catchment communities about the theme.

World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year to remind people about the importance of nature. The theme for this year's celebration was "Ecosystem Restoration" which is assisting in the recovery of the geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape that have been degraded.

Environmental Coordinator for Goldfields Damang Mine, Mr Samuel Morkeh Ackah explained that they believed that children are the best group to involve to restore the ecosystem.

The students were educated on the positive and bad effect on human activities on the ecosystem, benefits and how to protect them from being treated with contempt or disrespect.

Schools engaged in the education were Nana Amoakwa Model School, Damang Catholic school, Goldfields International and Kyekyewere A.M.E Zion.

25 trees were planted at Old Kyekyewere Primary school to begin the exercise.

Health, Safety and Environment Unit Manager for Goldfields Damang Mine, Mr John Kwesi Adegilah advised the students to share the education with friends at home and also practice good sanitation to protect the ecosystem.
