Dag Heward-Mills on his son's death: 'Death makes nonsense of everything.'

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the founder and General Overseer of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC), has expressed his sorrow over the death of his son, David Heward-Mills, who was 31 years old.

The renowned evangelist, while opening up about his son's death and noting that it has created a "funny environment," preached to his congregation on Sunday in a sermon titled "The grave is not the end."

"My son David passed away recently. Everything is ruined by it. Do you want to know whether I'm sad? Will you be sad if one of your sons dies? That is a question you should ask yourself.

Everything is ruined by its [death]. It creates a humorous environment and makes everything absurd. We attempt to wish it away as much as possible, but it is what it is."

Dr. David Heward-Mills died unexpectedly on Easter Friday in the United States, shortly after becoming ill.

His death was revealed in a circular sent to church members.

"It is with great regret and sadness that we announce David Heward-Mills' untimely death following a brief illness. "Our Founder and Presiding Bishop's first son was David."

"We, too, as a church, are heartbroken; yet, we stand with our leader and his family, trusting that God will comfort and guide us through this trying time."

"During this difficult moment, please respect their privacy. "Arrangements for the funeral will be communicated as soon as possible," the circular stated.

David spent almost two years in the United States of America as a resident physician at Prisma Health in Columbia.

He worked as a Research Physician at Galveston's Shriners Hospitals for Children.
