C/R: Farmer In The Awutu Senya West Affected By Fertilizer Shortage.

Farmers in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central region are concerned about a lack of fertilizer.

Speaking with Media, Alhaji Hudu Yaya, the 2020 Best Farmer Award Winner, who owns a farm of 150 acres of crops at Awutu Bonsruku in the Central Region is calling on the Minister of Agriculture, Hon.Dr.Owusu Afriyai Akoto, to provide them fertilizer to improve their farming activities.

He claims to have planted 30 acres of pineapple farms, 20 acres of maize, 25 acres of coconut, 20 acres of mango, and other crops, employing 50 workers, including youth, however, due to a shortage of fertilizer, which has harmed their crops, the workers have been reduced to 15.

He has therefore appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Minister of Agriculture, Hon.Dr.Owusu Afriyai Akoto, to release fertilizers to provide farmers with fertilizers to foster their crops.

Several workers employed by the farmers have also called on the government and the Minister of Agriculture to treat the matter urgent to increase their harvest this season.

“There are no jobs in the district, so they rely on farmer's activities. If the government does not help them with fertilizers, they will be fired, leaving them jobless,” Alhaji Hudu Yaya stressed.
