COVID-19: Nigeria's Confirmed Cases Hit 52,227, 322 New Cases Recorded

"Till date, 52227 cases have been confirmed, 38945 cases have been discharged and 1002 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory," NCDC reveals.

The Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria rose to 52,227 confirmed cases on Sunday night.  

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet. 

NCDC tweeted: "On the 23rd of August 2020, 322 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

 

 

"Till date, 52227 cases have been confirmed, 38945 cases have been discharged and 1002 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

"The 322 new cases are reported from 18 states- Lagos(130), Bauchi(36), FCT(25), Edo(17), Bayelsa(14), Ogun(14), Oyo(14), Anambra(13), Kaduna(12), Ondo(11), Abia(10), Osun(6), Plateau(5), Kwara(5), Kano(4), Ebonyi(3), Sokoto(2), Borno(1).

A total of 378,023 tests have been carried out as of August 23rd, 2020 compared to 374,077 tests a day earlier.

Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 17,894, followed by Abuja (4,994), Oyo (3,050), Edo (2,537), Plateau (2,118), Rivers (2,048), Kaduna (2,011), Kano (1,708), Delta (1,701), Ogun (1,614), Ondo (1,512), Enugu (1,043), Ebonyi (960), Kwara (936), Katsina (771), Osun (768), Abia (749), Borno (740), Gombe (709),  and Bauchi (643).

 

 

Imo State has recorded 521 cases, Benue (430), Nasarawa (396), Bayelsa (370),  Jigawa (322), Akwa Ibom (271), Niger (237), Ekiti (218), Adamawa (206), Anambra (194), Sokoto (158),  Kebbi (90), Cross River (80), Taraba and Zamfara (78), Yobe (67), while Kogi state has recorded 5 cases only.
