In the said video, a student believed to be a final year student of the school is seen grappling with another student according to reports is a junior in the school and hitting his head against a bed, causing an injury.

Concerned Parents for Free SHS Ghana condemns brutality in schools

Leadership of the Concerned Parents for Free SHS Ghana, have condemned the act of a senior bullying a junior in a dormitory at Adisadel College in Cape Coast.

This comes at the back of a video circulating on the various social media platforms showing an incident of bullying in a dormitory. In the said video, a student believed to be a final year student of the school is seen grappling with another student according to reports is a junior in the school and hitting his head against a bed, causing an injury.

The Ghana Education Service, has since the emergence of the video condemned the unfortunate incident describing it as a “barbaric act of violence”.

GES has meted out punishment to those involved in the incident.

However, leadership of the Concerned Parents for Free SHS Ghana, in a statement jointly signed by the National Chairman and the General Secretary;Mr Benjamin Oteng Marfo and Isaac Frimpong respectively said “there should be a thorough investigation into the matter.”

The Statement further praised the Ghana Education Service for the swift response whereby the housemaster of the Quaque Hall where the incident happened and the student in question have been suspended for further investigation is in order.

They further charged students of the junior rank “to report any maltreatment to school authorities and also called various headmasters and Mistresses in various schools to do routine supervision to curb any further occurrence.”

In the statement, they also charged the Attorney General to investigate the matter and prosecute the culprits immediately to serve as deterrent to others.
