THE CHILDREN  of the late Very Rev. J. K. Koranteng have constructed an ultra-modern mechanised bolehole for the Emmanuel Methodist Church-Apirade in the Adukrom Circuit of the Koforidua Diocese in the Eastern Region in honour of their late father during the commemoration of its 10th Anniversary celebration.

The project was constructed at a cost of GH¢41,524 for the church community.
At a very short but impressive ceremony held at Apirede to hand over the project to the Church, the firstborn of the late Very Rev. Koranteng, Madam Grace Koranteng, said one of the reasons for the construction of the mechanised borehole was to solve the perennial water supply challenges to the Emmanuel Methodist Chapel- Apirede and the Manse, popularly called the mission house, where their late father also suffered during his last five years stay to supernuation.
Madam Grace Koranteng further added that their father often harvested rainwater at the Manse for usage, hence their move to solve the situation and to make life bearable for members and ministers.
She said the construction of the mechanised bolehole was also aimed at erecting a monument in loving memory of their dear father, the late Very Rev. J. K Koranteng.
Madam Grace Koranteng added that as children of the late Very Rev. Koranteng, she hoped to see that the facility ensured an efficient and regular supply of water to the Chapel and the Manse.
Also, the facility would help augment the financial strength of the Church when it is used for commercial purposes.
"We also expect usage members of the borehole to remember our late father every time the water is fetched. Also, it is to encourage others to come and do more massive projects for the Church in the near future," Madam Grace Koranteng stressed.
She appealed to the leadership of the Church to exhibit maintenance culture to ensure greater lifespan of the facility.
The late Very Rev. J. K. Koranteng's children who were at the ceremony were Madam Grace Koranteng, Mr John Omama Koranteng, Mrs Mercy Koranteng Acquah and Mr Samuel Koranteng.
In an interview with Soireenews.com, after the commissioning and dedication of the project, Mrs Mercy Koranteng Acquah expressed her joy for the execution of the project.
The Superintendent Minister of Adukrom Circuit, Very Rev. George Darko Ampe, receiving the project on behalf of the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, the Bishop of Koforidua Diocese and the entire members of Emmanuel Methodist Church-Apirede, commended the children of the late Very Rev. J.K. Koranteng for the kind gesture.
He advised the family to continue to be united to preserve the legacy of the great clergy man.
The Very Rev George Darko Ampem appealed to other benevolent organisations and individuals to come to the aid of the Church to support its activities.
He also assured the children and the family that the project would be put to good use to realise its intended purpose.
Taking his turn, the Rev. Douglas Amoako, the Resident Minister of Emmanuel Methodist Church- Apirade, also commended the children highly for coming to the rescue of the Church.
The resident minister, Rev Amoako, said he was initially not too sure whether the project proposal he put forward was going to be accepted by the children when he was called by Mrs Mercy Koranteng Acquah.
He added that he was shocked when Mrs Koranteng Acquah informed him that the siblings had accepted his borehole proposal as a project to be executed in loving memory of their late father.
To this end, the Rev. Douglas Amoako has also promised that the project would be put to good use and ensure that the purpose for which it was constructed is achieved.
