Chelsea boosted to sign Coutinho

Barca reached an agreement with Bayern last season for a loan move and the deal included a 120m euro purchase option yet with injuries hampering the progress of the ‘little magician’ the Bundesliga giants are reported not willing to trigger the clause.

Chelsea has been given the green light by Barcelona to talk to Philippe Coutinho if he will be willing to move back to England to continue his career.

Frank Lampard will strengthen his squad in the next transfer window to be able to compete for honors after having signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax but have Pedro, Willian and Olivier Giroud out of contract this summer.

Coutinho moved to Barcelona from Liverpool after an impressive season for £145m three years ago.

His departure in the mid-season saw Liverpool reach the UEFA Champions League final but lost the trophy to Madrid at Kiev before winning it the next season at the Wanda Metropolitano against Spurs.

The ‘little magician’ fell out of favor in his first season at the Catalan club and is currently on loan at Bayern Munich until the end of the season, but the Bundesliga club are unlikely to take up their option to sign him permanently due to injuries hampering his progress.

He came on as a second-half substitute when Bayern won 3-0 win at Chelsea two months ago and while he was in London he told his agent he would be interested in returning to the Premier League.

Although Chelsea lead the race ahead of Manchester United and Spurs yet if his transfer fee and weekly wage does not drop, the Brazil international will remain at Barca till his contract runs out.
