Arsenal’s players and coaches were stranded at Luton Airport for five hours ahead of their Champions League group game at Lens on Tuesday night.

The Gunners were scheduled to travel to France on Monday afternoon. And manager Mikel Arteta was due to speak to the media at 6pm UK time.

But a storm in the surrounding areas of Luton Airport saw Arsenal’s chartered flight delayed.

Their flight eventually took off in the evening and Arteta was ultimately forced to conduct his media duties over the phone.

Arsenal won their first game against PSV 4-0 at the Emirates.

There will be no fine for the club missing the pre-match press conference, as the circumstances were beyond their control.

Arsenal may have Thomas Partey back in the squad for the game, as he has recovered from a groin issue.
