Edinson Cavani will miss Manchester United’s trip to the St. James Park to play Newcastle United in Matchday 5 Premier League fixture.

The Uruguayan was added to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s collection in the just-ended transfer window for a season loan to strengthen the Red Devils attacking line.

Manchester United have lost two out of three matches in the league, with a game in hand. The Red Devils are 16th on the table with three points and have made a few signings to strengthen the squad - Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri plus Ahmad Diallo of Atalanta, who would join the Red Devils in January due to work permit.

Per the UK government’s coronavirus regulations, anyone arriving from France has to self-isolate for 14 days and the rules simply apply to Cavani.

The Times reports that the Red Devils are seeking clarification on Cavani’s possible quarantine – with a confirmed 14-day period of self-isolation, which means the 33-year old will miss next weekend’s trip to Newcastle and will likely make his debut against his former side, Paris St. Germain in the Champions’ League group stage on Tuesday, October 20.

He will then make his Premier League debut when Manchester United play Frank Lampard’s Chelsea four days later.
