Police Administration under the new Anti-Armed Robbery Tasks Force (AARTF) has retrieved 3,745 rounds of ammo, guns, knife, machete, claw bar, military camouflage uniform, sword, traditional warrior smock and personal effects.

This was to curb robberies and other violent crimes in the country.

According to Director-General/ Commissioner Of Police ( COP), Mr Ken Yeboah, on December 7, 2020, Emmanuel Dompreh aged 36 and Botwe Tackie aged 16 were shot dead during the counting of the Parliamentary Ballot of Odododiodo constituency.

5 suspects including Geoffrey alias Wadaada, Emmanuel Gogoe-Nai, Rev. Esinam Robert Oforfoe, Mawuli and Bruno who were identified to have shot into the crowd were arrested and arraigned before Adjabeng District Court on the charges of murder contrary to Sect 46 of Act 1960 (Act 29), possession of firearms and ammunition without unlawful authority contrary to Sect 192 of Act 1960 (Act 29).

The case docket was with the Attorney General’s Office for advice since May 23, 2021.

Again, on December 8, 2020, a similar incident happened which injured Inspector Nixon Aquino of the Accra Central Divisional Headquarters who was on duty at the collation centre.

A journalist of Global News Watch, Prius Asiedu Kwanin was hit in the left ankle and a trader and an NDC sympathizer Raahid Umar was also shot and the bullet hit the right knee and left shin as they were sent to the hospital and discharged later.

However, the accused persons are standing trial at Circuit court 4 in Accra; the case adjourned from 2020 to July 2021.

 A similar incident happened at Techiman South Constituency collation centre where identified person fired a shot from the crowd and others started throwing stones and other weapons.

In response, the security personnel also resorted to firing warning shots to disperse the rioters hence, eight male adults were later found to be injured in the process.
