The ban on hunting is backed by the Wildlife Reserve Regulation L.I. 685 of 1971.

Assistant Manager for Bui National Park Wildlife Division, Mr Gilbert Asiamah-Antwi, has disclosed that a ban will be placed on hunting for wildlife from August 1 till December 1, 2021.

According to the manager, the close season is a period within a year set aside to officially prohibit hunting, capturing and destruction of wildlife species except grasscutter, which researchers has proven to be highly prolific.

The close season is being backed by wildlife reserve regulation L.I. 685 of 1971 and within this period, any wildlife related enterprises like bush meat trade and its consumption at restaurants and homes are equally banned.

He advised that the general public can visit their offices to aquire hunting and trade in bush meat permit during the open season, which falls on 2nd December 2021 to 31st August, 2022.

He finally urged security agencies, chiefs and communities to support the forestry commission during this period.
