The former Minister for Communication, Education and Trade and Industry, Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah, on Saturday, 10th of February 2024 honored an invitation to join the Upper Manya Constituency for the annual thanksgiving and inauguration of the Zongo Caucus Working Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Asesewah.

The event which was organized by the abled Zongo Caucus Coordinator for the Constituency, Mohammed Ibrahim, took place at the main Lorry Station at Asesewah, close to the historic "Market of Asesewah". The occasion was graced by the Chief of Asesewah Zongo, Osmanu Zacharia, Imam of Asesewah Central Mosque Rafiu Haruna and some dignitaries from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) comradeship. The Eastern Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator Mohammed Issah, the former Minister of Employment and former Member of Parliament for Upper Manya, Honourable Stephen Kwao Amoanor, incumbent Member of Parliament for Upper Manya, Honourable Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah et al.

Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah, as the Special Guest of Honor and the Chairman for the event, appreciated the Constituency inviting him as the "Special Guest of Honor and Chairman” of the event.

"My presence here today in February 2024, a good 10 months before our general elections, is testimony to the fact that the NDC’s Campaign for 2024 Elections has already begun.  So anybody who is not aware should be aware" he said.

Delving into the mandates of the branch and Constituency executives, he entreated all not to slumber on the task ahead but should go all out to canvass for the NDC to get an unblemished victory come 7th December 2024.

"I want to encourage the branch and Constituency Executives to do all kinds of campaigning towards this election.for this Whether it is house to house, Corridor to Corridor, room to room, bungalow to bungalow, farm to farm, bus stop to bus stop, Market to Market, let's conquer the Asesewah Constituency completely" he further said.

"Such events are important to us the NDC,  because they help us to listen to you, to listen to the people. As an incoming government, we have some ideas from our previous experiences over the last thirty years in government and outside government.

But an important part of the work of any government is its ability to listen to the needs and the cries of the people. So when you see a government that cannot and does not listen to the cries of the people, you know that, that government should not exist and should get out of power, that's the NPP government" he said.

He concluded his remarks by introducing the slogan, “Wa ma tsa ke Mi” for the NDC Constituency Executives, as a message the current President used a decade ago to persuade the Krobo people to vote for the NPP. Now that, he claims that the people of Ghana now recognize the NPP as Looters and Stealers, the slogan Dr Spio-Garbrah encouraged the NDC to adopt is: “Break the Stealing; Stop the Looting”!
