186 Aspirants Vying for 13 MCE and 20 DCEs in Eastern Region 

The Regional Minister applauded the vetting committee for a successful work done and stressed that qualified persons will be selected to represent his Excellency at each of the 20 ordinary districts and the 13 municipalities.

Names of 186 aspirants were vying for positions of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Eastern Region and about 132 out of the number have been sent to His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa for appointment after a successful vetting.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Seth Kwame Acheampong who was the chairman of the committee that undertook the vetting said, "we were mandated to vet about 186 aspirants within the last few days and make recommendations regarding prospective Municipal and District Chief Executives to represent the president in the region. 186 aspirants from 20 district assemblies and 13 municipal assemblies were vetted".

He added that 4 aspirants were selected for each Assembly, from which the president will finally make his appointment” from that lists.

Briefing the media this morning at Koforifua Coordinating Council, the Regional Minister, applauded the vetting committee for a successful work done and stressed that qualified persons will be selected to represent his Excellency at each of the 20 ordinary districts and the 13 municipalities.

The vetting committee was made up of Mr Sammi Awuku – NPP National Organizer, Mr Prince Aboagye – Deputy CEO of Petroleum Commission, and Mr Richard Twum -Barimah Koranteng – 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP(Eastern Region), chaired by Honourable Seth Acheampong, Eastern Regional Minister.

The committee was ably supported by Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong – Council of State member of the Eastern Region, Jeffery Konadu Addo, Regional Secretary, Kwame Appiah Kodua, Regional Organizer, Jerry Osei-Poku – Youth Organiser, Nana Yaw Papin – Assistant Secretary, Ben Kumi Larbi – Treasurer, Baba Fadilu Fafana – Nasara Coordinator, Francis Gyan – Deputy Organiser, Walter Hormenu, Deputy Youth Organiser, Monica Kessewaa – Deputy Women Organiser, Adamu Musah Raha, Deputy Nasara, Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta – Financial Secret.

The president is expected to appoint 33 from these nominees to head 13 municipalities and 20 ordinary districts to steer the affairs of government businesses for proper developments when they are approved. 

The release didn't specify the number of female contestant's among.

All current MDCEs in the region are facing keen contest by at least four persons in their respective Municipal and District Assembly, he emphasized.
