Bawumia's visit to the explosion area was unprofessional - Ayariga jabs

The leader and founder of All Peoples Congress (APC), Honourable Hassan Ayariga says Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia today's visit to the Appiatse Community is unprofessional.

Thirteen (13) people in the Appiatse Community died with several others sustaining various degrees of injury following the explosion of a vehicle believed to carry dynamite.

The Vice President, therefore on behalf of the Government paid a visit to the area to solidarize with the victims.

But, the mission of Veep Bawumia to the area has not gone down well with the founder of the opposition party, describing the move as unprofessional and unsafe.

According to him, the Vice President life could have been in danger, because of the high possibility of another explosion.

However, preliminary investigations by the Police have established that a mining explosion vehicle moving from Tarkwa to the Chirano Gold Mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion at Appiatse, a farming Community between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley municipality of the Western Region.

It was unprofessional and not safe for our vice president and government officials to hurriedly visit the explosion site.

The security experts and other security institutions should have declared the place safe before allowing people including our Vice President to Visit the place because there could be a possibility of another explosion due to the level of chemical content involved. It wasn’t right to have allowed anybody to go there.
