Nana Romeo has bemoaned how the residence of the Chief Imam has been bastardised by celebrities.

The pundit expressed his displeasure on the ease of access people have to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu’s and his residence.

According to him, any cat and dog can gain an audience with the Imam nowadays which should not be so.

There should be restrictions that limit the calibre of people that can commune with the Imam on a yearly basis, he noted.

Celebrities should not just decide that they want to take a trip to his office just to take pictures with the Imam since the Imam evidently represents a pillar of authority in Ghana.

Nana Romeo also raised concerns on the health issues of the Imam, in that a man of his age should have long periods of rest instead of unnecessary incessant visits that make him tired.

“People visit the Chief Imam every day for no special reason. Mostly just to take pictures with him. Currently, if you’re searching for an elderly person whose image is all over social media, then it’s the Chief Imam and it’s bad,” he fumed during his radio show on May 14, 2021, monitored by GhanaWeb.

“It’s about time that his advisors and the people surrounding him enact laws to regulate such practices. It is really getting out of hand. Sometimes you can tell from the pictures that the man is tired but he had no option. He is grown and therefore needs some rest,”

The ClassFM presenter noted that the Chief Imam is an icon to all Ghanaians, but he should be considered too since he can only keep giving as long as he is alive.

Afia Schwarzenegger, Shatta Michy, Kuami Eugene, Efia Odo and most recently Nana Agradaa all paid visits to the chief Imam just to take photos.
