The newly installed chief of Ayikai Doblo Divisional Area under the Akumajey Traditional Council in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Ayi Kojo V on Saturday August 19, 2023 led his subjects to celebrate this year's annual Homowo festival in the grand style.
This year's celebration of the Howomo festival in the Akyikai Doblo is extraordinary and exceptional since the area has finally got the chief after six years without chief.
The young chief sprinkled the traditional food ‘kpoikpoi’ amid pomp and pageantry through some principle streets and ancestral areas on the town.
 
The ceremony to hoot at hunger also expected to bring blessings and prosperity to the people for good harvest, marriage and development
Speaking with the media later, Nii Ayi Kojo V noted that his installation as the chief of the area has gone along way to cement long chieftaincy dispute in Ayikai Doblo amd called for unity among his subjects in the divisional area in the Ga State to enhance development being carried out by government.
He urged the people to unite and contribute to the development of Ayikai Doblo and assured the teeming unemployed young people in the area of his commitment and readiness to use his chieftaincy position to lobby for the jobs to be brought to the area.
Nii Ayi Kojo V who is very passionate about the youth development stressed education should be a priority for the youth.
“Being law abiding citizens we accepted the advice by the police leading to a peaceful festival that we are very proud of as there was no nasty incident,” he added.
The Ayikai Doblo Mantse said the Gas in general were happy and proud to celebrate Homowo as it marked victory over famine and hunger that plagued the Gas during their migration from Israel through Nigeria to their present abode in Ghana before finally they got food and fish in abundance that they could not even consume.
He noted that this year their main objective for the festival is to attain unity, love and development for the divisional Area which they are optimistic they will achieve.
