A'special relationship' existed between a missing Alabama guard and an inmate.

According to police, an escaped inmate and a guard accused of assisting him had a "special relationship."

The discovery was confirmed by fellow detainees of missing prisoner Casey White, a murder suspect, according to the Alabama sheriff's office.

Vicky White, a 56-year-old prison officer, and 38-year-old escapee is the subject of a manhunt (no relation).

As she was driving him to a false psychiatric evaluation, the two fled.

The nature of the relationship has not been revealed by the police.

'Nothing to lose'

Her last day at work was intended to be Friday, the day the two went missing. She had lately sold her house and informed her coworkers that she intended to spend more time at the beach.

Ms. White, who defied jail regulations by accompanying Casey White alone, is now suspected of assisting in the escape.

"Over the weekend, investigators acquired information from detainees at the Lauderdale County Detention Center that Director White and inmate Casey White had a special relationship," Sheriff Rick Singleton said in a statement on Tuesday.

"That relationship has now been confirmed by independent sources and means as a result of our inquiry."

The two were last spotted driving a copper-colored Ford Edge with an Alabama registration on Friday, according to the US Marshals Service.

The same bulletin gave two aliases for Ms. White - April Davis and Renee Marie Maxwell. Authorities say Casey White should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous".

Officials say they may now have access to an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun.

On Monday, Sheriff Singleton described the 6ft 9in Casey White as "extremely dangerous" and advised law enforcement not to "take any chances" with him.

"He has nothing to lose," he said.

From 'solid employee' to 'wanted fugitive'

Ms. White is believed to be using cash and has turned off her phone, according to him.

According to him, the US Secret Service is assisting in the investigation of her financial records.

"Vicky was someone I would have trusted with my life. I truly believe that "Chris Connolly, the District Attorney for Lauderdale County, told reporters. "She was our go-to person in the jail when we needed something, and she was a reliable employee. That is why it is so surprising."

Ms. White was designated as a "wanted fugitive" by the Marshals Service.

In September 2020, Casey White was charged with murder in the stabbing death of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway. He had already been sentenced to 75 years in prison for a series of violent offenses committed in 2015, including burglary, vehicle theft, and a police chase.

He allegedly confessed to the murder but later pled not guilty due to insanity and was being held at the Lauderdale County Jail awaiting trial when he vanished, according to officials.

If he is found guilty, he will be executed.

Meanwhile, a woman White attempted to murder during a burglary claimed she is "freaking out" now that he is on the loose.

The unidentified woman told local ABC affiliate WAAY 31 that she and her family had gone into hiding because they are afraid White will find them.

She also stated she has a message for Ms. White: "Get the hell out if she's still alive." Run. Run as far as you can and contact someone to give yourself in.

"Like, do the right thing before you lose your life or somebody else does."
