Ashaiman Circuit Court has remanded two criminals into police custody to enable the Police continue with their investigations.

The accused persons, Abdul Malik Mohammed and Mohammed Bayhaki aka Ballack were remanded into Police custody to enable further investigations into the case.

The court presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga adjourned the case to 10/7/2023 for the plea of the duo to be taken.

Charged on multiple counts of five including causing unlawful damage contrary to section 172(1)(a) of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29), Unlawful entry contrary to section 152 of the criminal offences Act 1960 (Act 29), Stealing contrary to section 124 (1) of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29), Dishonestly receiving contrary to section 147 (1) of the criminal offences Act 1960 (Act 29) amongst other.

Prosecution: Prosenting the D/Inspector Gideon Darko investigative case, ASP Fuseini Sugri told the court that the complainant, George Ofori is a businessman and C.E.O Super O.Entreprise dealers in car parts located at Mankwadze, Tema and resides at Community 9.

He told the court that the accused person 1 (A1) Abdul Malik Mohammed is a trader and resides at Rana Motors Roundabout Community 4 while A2, Mohammed Bayhaki aka Ballack is a scrap dealer and resides at Community 4 Roundabout, Tema.

PHe told the court that on the 11/06/2023, complainant George Ofori at about 11:00 am received a phone call from his Logistic and Procurement Manager, Prince Acheampong, witness in the case, that on same day at about 10:30hrs, he went to their warehouse and detected thieves have cut open their metal gate and made away with some of their stock of car spare parts.

An official complaint with lodged with the police and investigations begun.

A visit to the crime scene by the Police where an inventory of stock was taken and it came to light that some of the stock of certain car parts were missing.

The inventory of stock revealed that 28 pieces of Mark Pro Android car tapes valued at GHS 1,100 each, 7 pieces of electronic alarm valued at GHS 300.00 each, 2 sets of Toyota Corolla 2006 model tail lights valued at GHS 1,300.00 each, a set of Toyota Tundra 2018 model tail light valued at GHS 2,600.00, a set of Toyota Corolla 2014 model tail light valued at GHS 1,800.00, a set of Nissan Navara 2018 model tail light valued at GHS 1,300.00, 23 pieces of Arnold 75 Amps batteries valued at GHS 850.00 each, 17 pieces of Omega 85 amps batteries valued at GHS 900.00 each, 8 pieces of omega 85 amps batteries valued at GHS 1,050.00 each, and one Samsung galaxy S7 Edge mobile phone valued at 1,500.00 totaling GHS 85,950.00.

Police investigations further revealed that a cash sum of GHS 32,850.00 was also stolen from the warehouse.

Police intelligence revealed further that the accused persons were earlier arrested and detained in the Community 1 Police station for similar offence.

Upon interrogation, A1 admitted that he conspired with one Issaku and one other person now at large and stole  nine batteries from the said warehouse and cash sum from the office drawer in the warehouse belonging to the complainant.

A1 admitted to Police in his investigation caution statement that A2 received an amount of GHS 2,800.00 being part of the money stolen from the office of the warehouse.

A1 again admitted he used some of the stolen money to buy Samsung X6 mobile phone, J.B.L. Bluetooth, sent an amount of GHS 500.00 to the daughter's grandmother for her upkeep.

A1 again said he gave an amount of GHS 3,900.00 to his uncle Fuseini.

A2 in his investigation caution statement to the Poice, stated that on 11/06/2023 at about 2:30am, the junior brother of bought a Taxi cab loaded with goods coming from the complainant's warehouse and when he approached, A1 gave him an amount of GHS 2,100.00 and later in the morning he again gave him additional amount of GHS 700.00 but had since spent all.

He said an amount of GHS3,000.00, J.B.L. Bluetooth and Samsumg x6 mobile phone were retrieved by Police while the case is still under investigations.
