The member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Municipality who doubles as the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Honourable Hawa Koomson has donated an amount of Gh 100,000 to each family who lost their child at Apam when 14 children were drowned in the Apam River located in the Central Region on Monday, March 8.

Gh 100,000 were also donated to the chiefs and elders at Apam, as Gh5,000 each went to the two children who were saved by some of the fishermen during the search party.

12 children were buried on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Apam cemetery out of the 14 who were drowned following the advice of the Member of Parliament, who further urged parents to take good care of their children's especially those in the coastal area.

"Every child is a benefit to Ghana and parents, so please take good care of the children," she said.

The buried children were Isaac Effisah 16 years, Ebenezer Forson 15 years, Kingbert Addison 14 years, Gilbert Essandol 16 years, Sarah Mensah 14 years, Prince Peprah 12 years, Benjamin Narh 14 years, Christopher Ewusi 13 years, Kwasi Saarah Bentil 16 years, Isaac Bentil 11 years, Joshua Hammond 11 years and John Arthur, 14 years.

Two dead bodies are still at the mortuary at the Apam Government Hospital yet to be identified by parents and according to chiefs and elders, no parent has shown up to recognise the body despite the numerous announcements made.
