Traders in the capital of the Ashanti Region have booed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for taking legal actions in their pursuit to challenge the results of presidential and parliamentary elections, having accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of rigging the polls.

The Electoral Commission on December 9, 2020, declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo as the President-elect to continue his mandate as the leader of the West African country.

Protests have been held by the biggest opposition party in Ghana across the country demanding the results to be pronounced on behalf of John Dramani Mahama following their claims that there were changes of figures on the EC’s website.

According to traders in Kumasi expressing their views on the decision of the National Democratic Congress, it is their constitutional right to demand hearing on issues they have no understanding since 'any idiot can go to court."

“Just as Asiedu Nketia said any idiot can go to court, they have proven that they are indeed hoodwinked and going to court to prove it,” Agya Sei revealed.

“Initially they thought the burning of tires will scare Ghanaians to pressure the electoral body to re-declare the elections. It all boils to who is advising the John Dramani Mahama. Nana Addo for the sake of peace decided to approach the court proceedings in 2012 and after everything, he accepted the court verdict for us to move on. It’s a good step Mahama has taken and we believe they will be once again be disappointed. Ghana is a democratic state and it’s their right so we are waiting for the outcome.

“Afari Gyan said elections are won at the polling stations and that is what the NPP has been witnessed,” he added.

Despite the declaration of results, lots of NPP supporters in the Ashanti Region were concerned about the turn of events across the country through numerous protests by the opposition party which was a distraction of the peace enjoyed by citizens and called on John Mahama to go to court for the sake of tranquility.

“We were ready waiting for them to take the legal approach,” Akua Adoma told.

“Just as the court gave us the opportunity to present our petition in 2012, it’s the same way theirs will be heard. Mahama’s strategy is to go to court and assure the NDC, he stands a chance next four years, that’s it.

“We have been waiting for this day till now and we are happy. After making a mess of the better policies initiated by former president Kufuor under the NPP government, they want to repeat same. Ghanaians are not stupid and we will make sure after the four years, the next flagbearer of the NPP will be pushed to win the elections once again.

“Any idiot can now go to court and their actions reveal how ill-advised they are. Their tires burning could not grant them power and now they believe going to court will guarantee them that opportunity. Let the law take its course. Mahama will not be resident ever again.

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo will be sworn in on Thursday, January 7, 2021, and it is very obvious that NPP supporters are far considering the strategies the party need to employ ahead of the 2024 elections as they look forward to enjoying the better policies of the government for Ghanaians under the incumbent government again.

“Mahama and the NDC have breached the message of peace,” Madam Sefa Boakye revealed.

“This election was won free and fair by Nana Addo and there is no way he is becoming the president of Ghana. They should stop burning the market and support Nana Akufo Addo. Asiedu Nketiah is behind the ill advice Mahama is receiving and should be ignored."
