The Suspect is in police custody for investigation while the stolen car which is partly damaged is at the regional police headquarters.

An alleged armed robber was involved in an accident while making away with a car he allegedly snatched from the owner, an Army Officer on Sunday, September 10, 2021.

The suspect had stolen a Hyundai Elantra saloon car with registration number ER 490 21 and was driving along Suhyen and Jumapo road when he had an accident.

The Police opined, that the victim, Sgt. Eric Okyere Agyapong, a physical training instructor of Northern Command Headquarters, Tamale, now on attachment at the Army recruit training school at Shai Hills reported to the Akyem New Tafo Police, in the Abuakwa North about 2 pm on Sunday,

That he went to a mechanic shop with his wife’s Hyundai Elantra saloon car to look for a mechanic to work on his broken-down vehicle at home and in the process, the suspected armed robber got into the car and speed off.

Subsequently, he got a taxi and gave the car a chase and in the course of that, he came across the car involved in an accident with another car at a spot of the road between Suhyen and Jumapo and informed police who came and took the suspect and the car to the regional MTTU in the Koforidua.

The suspect who is unwilling to help in the ongoing investigations as of now gave his name only as Nana Agyemang.

He was immediately brought to Akyem Tafo and was treated and discharged at the New Tafo Government Hospital.
