The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says the country has not gone back to the days of severe energy crisis and power cuts, popularly known as ‘dumsor’.

GRIDco said the recent power outages being experienced are only a result of some temporary challenges in the power supply chain.

This comes after several parts of the country have been plunged into darkness several times in the last few weeks.

The Corporate Communications Manager of the company, Ebenezer Amankwah, has assured Ghanaians of the company’s commitment to improving consistency in power transmission.

“First of all, let me just allay the fears of Ghanaians about the possible resumption of the dumsor period we experienced some years back. Dumsor is not back and I want to emphasize that,” he stressed as quoted by  Citi Business News.

“There continue to be some challenges in the power supply chain because we work with machines and infrastructure and as and when they happen, our responsibility is to ensure that we are able to keep the system back up in terms of trying to make adjustments here and there until such a time that the issues are resolved. And that is the commitment that we have as a key member of the power supply value chain to ensure consistency,” he added.
