National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East Constituency of the Central Region, Mrs Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr on Wednesday, January 19, 2021, visited some selected basic and primary schools in her constituency, with a call on the pupils to be punctual at school, take their studies seriously and also be respectful both at home and school.

The female legislator who was interacting with pupils during her tour of the Agona East Constituency during‘ My First Day At School’ exercise encouraged the children to inculcate the habit of punctuality and since that is the only way to get them a better job in future.

"My First Day at School’ is an annual ritual in the educational calendar in Ghana to receive newly admitted pupils to the Kindergarten and Class One stages.

In interacting with both teachers and the pupils at the schools visited the MP, was elated that school has been reopened again.

Consequently, the outspoken female MP called on the heads and staff of the schools to ensure a total observation of the novel Corovirus COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols.

She stressed the need for the teachers to continue to educate the pupils (children) about the seriousness of the deadly COVID-19 disease which has rocked the world.

According to her, the country was no longer in normal times as the COVID-19 is still lingering around and called on all the children to observe the safety protocols and develop the habit of frequent hand washing and the wearing of face masks.

Mrs Sawyerr cautioned pupils to desist from sharing items such as bowls, spoons, cups, pencils, pens and the likes with their colleagues in class and at recreational periods and appealed to teachers to be a little committed by supervising the activities of the children, especially during contact hours.

He noted that the virus is real and that it is the collective responsibilities of all and sundry to ensure that Ghana succeeds her fight against the virus.

The NDC female legislator noted that some pupils in certain schools she visited in her constituency were without nose masks, a situation she regarded as worrying and assured to provide face masks and sanitisers for use.

"My visit to some selected schools in AGONA EAST on Wednesday the 20th January 2021 was a success by God's grace," she noted.

"My prayer as always is to give genuine hope to my ppl and I am trusting God for his guidance and blessings

"My team and I visited sites of ongoing school building projects I have initiated in four schools," she stated.

"I educated the children, teachers and parents about the seriousness of the Covid-19," she stressed.

"I then shared with them some face masks, sanitisers and lunch. I am praying to be able to provide some more face masks to the rest of schools as I noticed that the children were not wearing any in the schools I visited."
