The Chairman of the newly-appointed 13-member Board of Directors for Ghana Road Fund, Mr Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has assured to pursue proactive measures to help the government to pay the road contractors for their works done on the various road projects in the country.

Mr Afenyo-Markin who doubles as Member of Parliament for Effutu and Deputy Majority Leader stressed that the Board will “work diligently to ensure that the quality of new roads being built and the lifespan of the old ones under maintenance are durable and provide the best possible value for money”.

He made this assurance during a brief ceremony for the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah to swear in a 13-member Board of the Ghana Road Fund in Accra.

Addressing the gathering in a brief ceremony in Accra, Mr Amoako-Attah announced that the government has so far released GH¢800million to pay road contractors across the country.

He charged the Board to work hard and devise creative and innovative ways to raise funds to support the road sector.
