AFCON 2023: 5 Countries Qualify For Round Of 16

At least five countries have qualified for the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Ivory Coast.

The five countries are Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Cape Verde and Egypt.

This follows the conclusion of Monday’s Group A and Group B final matches.

Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Egypt are the latest countries to book their spots in the last-16.

Equatorial Guinea thrashed the host nation, Ivory Coast 4-0, while Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau 1-0.

Egypt played 2-2 against Cape Verde, while Ghana also played 2-2 against Mozambique.

Egypt finished in second position in Group B ahead of Ghana in third place.

Senegal and Cape Verde had since booked their places in the knockout stage after winning their first two matches.

Senegal, however, still have a game to play.
