Accra Girls SHS alleged Covid-19 Cases Spark Fear in Parents; Some Threaten Withdrawal

Some parents are threatening to withdraw their children from Accra Girls senior high school (SHS) following reports that some students have tested positive for Covid-19.

Some 11 students were reportedly tested for the disease, with six of them confirmed to have been infected in the Mamobi-based school.

Those who tested positive were subsequently sent to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for treatment.

The recent development, according to reports, has resulted in students living in fear of being exposed to the disease.

Some parents as a result want to come and take their children back home.

As part of easing covid-19 induced restrictions, final year Senior High Schools (SHS) students were asked by the President to return to school on Monday, June 22, whereas their counterparts in Junior High Schools (JHS) were to do same on Monday, June 29, to prepare for their final examinations.

Final year university students were also asked to resume on Monday, June 15.

The directive has been criticized by many as risky, and might cause unnecessary spike in covid-19 cases.
