Allen said, "I never really have a strategy when it comes to career, but yes, my children ruined my career," in response to a question about whether she had to reconsider her career plan after having kids on the Radio Times podcast.

"Totally ruined it in terms of pop stardom, but I mean I love them and they complete me," Allen said in the video, which was made public on Tuesday.

The singer went on, "To be honest, I find it incredibly annoying when people tell me you can have it all. "It's okay for some people to prioritize their careers over their families."

With three number one songs and fifteen in the Top 40, Allen has had the majority of her career success in the United Kingdom. Her breakthrough album "Alright Still," which included the hits "Smile" and "LDN," shot her to stardom and earned her a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Allen, 38, claimed that because her parents were "quite absent" from her childhood, she made the decision to give up her job in order to concentrate on parenting her two girls, whom she shares with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.

Both of Allen's parents worked in the entertainment business: film producer Alison Owen and actor Keith Allen. The singer is the sister of actor Alfie Allen from "Game of Thrones."

Allen remarked, "I feel like that really left some nasty scars that I'm not willing to repeat [on my kids]." "I'm glad I chose to focus on them and take a step back because I believe they're pretty well-rounded individuals."

With her daughters and husband, "Stranger Things" actor David Harbour, whom she wed in 2020, Allen resides in New York City at the moment.
