Abandoned Tolon  District Hospital finally opens for Usage

The Tolon District hospital in the Northern Region has been open to the public after being lockdown since its completion for couple of years.

It will be recalled that soireenews visit to the facility reported the lockdown of the health facility with residents in the area traveling miles to seek for medical health care in other  areas.

The facility was commissioned on the 23rd of November, 2020 by his excellency the vice president of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Alhaji Bawumia, but logistical constraint halted its operations.

It was evidence clear that, seed capital, medical consumables and vehicles for it to start operating were unavailable.

Yesterday Tuesday, 3rd January 2022 the Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service held a maiden meeting of management and staff of the Tolon District Hospital to officially handover the facility to them for usage.

The health workers who were posted to the hospital were taken through series of intensed training for in order to enable them to be conversant with the new equipment at the modern hospital.

Casual workers and other staff also underwent interviews and screening processes.

During the meeting and the training proceedings, several patients who visited the facility in and around Tolon were administered.
