Three people have been jailed 2years each for Unlawful entering into the Forest Reserve for Illegal Chainsaw Operation.

The Sefwi Wiawso Magistrate Court presided over by His worship Lawrence Buernor-Buer has sentenced three (3) illegal chainsaw operators named, Sadick Abubakar,24, Obeng Kwame Eugene,26 and Adjeitey Daniel popularly known as Paa Kwame,28 into 2 years each imprisonment for operating illegal chainsaw lumbering in the Krokosue forest reserve of the Western North Region.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Thomas Acquah said there were 3 charges against them.

(1) Entering forest reserve without a permit.
(2)felling trees without authorities in the forest reserve.
(3) Using an unregistered chainsaw machine.

Speaking with Nattybongo Soireenews reporter, the  Western North Regional Forestry Manager, Mr Thomas Okyere explained how these illegal chainsaw operators were arrested in the Krokosue forest reserve for unlawful entering.

He stated, initially 8 people were arrested and fined by court whiles 9 others are currently hearing court proceedings.

Mr Thomas Okyere expressed worry about how some of the people from Sankore has been illegally felling trees in the forest reserve.

He advised the good people of Western North and it enclaves to desist from all illegal operating activities in the forest reserve because the forestry commission is ready for their arrest.

Finally, He thanked the magistrate for such a ruling because it will send a signal for others to desist from it.
