Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in the Arsenal job if Unai Emery is sacked according to ESPN.

The Arsenal boss has failed to build on last season’s performance after trail behind Chelsea and Leicester with 16 points in the fifth position. Arsenal spent £137m in the summer to advance in this seasons Premier League but the consistent wearying in form including a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday has agitated fans to doubt on the manager’s impact to the team.

The Gunners will play Liverpool in the English League Cup this evening at Anfield and a second loss to the Reds will increase the manager’s miseries.

Jose Mourinho has been without a job since leaving Manchester United in December and a possible return is likely after rumors emerged of his interest in Spurs, another struggling side.

Sources revealed to ESPN FC that the chance to win trophies with three Premier League clubs would appeal to Mourinho, who won three titles with Chelsea, but would need assurances from the board that funds were available to allow a serious challenge at silverware.

Mourinho was at the Emirates on Thursday to watch Arsenal play against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League during which Nicolas Pepe, a player he recommended for United in his time as manager scored two late goals to help Arsenal win by 3-2.

Although Emery might not be immediately dismissed by Arsenal yet the former Chelsea manager would be open to talks if the position becomes vacant.
