Pep Guardiola is confident that Manchester City can catch up Liverpool despite the eight-point gap between the two.

Liverpool has not lost a Premier League game this season and are almost on the brink of equalizing Manchester City’s 18 consecutive Premier League wins set by Guardiola in 2017 if they win against Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break.

The Citizens have lost twice against Norwich and Wolves and played a 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspurs yet Pep is positive that there is more room to close the breach they have caused.

“I know these guys. Still they are incredibly involved [committed] and can do it. What happened, happened,” he said after defeat to Wolves.

“Most of the teams who won [the Premier League] in the past, the year after, don’t win [unlike City last season].

“Today was the day, not our level. The previous games were good. But the distance is big.

Liverpool have games against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Spurs at Anfield after the International break and ability to overcome the test will put them in a better position to win the league. The Reds seem cautious not to repeat last year’s report of surrendering a seven-point lead to Manchester City.

Guardiola will face another tough test against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park.

“I know that. Liverpool is not dropping points. But we are in October, there are still a lot of games and competition.”

Report indicates that Guardiola might not stick around if things does not go as he is expecting at the Etihad this year. The Manager is known for his habit of not handling a club for too long, having left an unstoppable Barcelona side after four years, before spending three years at Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016.

He signed a new three-year deal in May after guiding City to a historic domestic treble last season.
