“I only had Sex with her three times’ – Security Man who defiled 8-year-old says in Court

The Accra Circuit Court has slapped a 15-year jail term on a 33-year-old security man for defiling the eight-year-old daughter of a policeman.

The culprit, Samuel Clottey, alias Barton said in court that he “only had sex with the victim three times and not five times…” in his attempt to water-down the severity of the incident, before he was convicted on his own plea.

The court presided over by Ms Priscilla Dapaah Mireku.

Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the victim lived with her father in the same vicinity with Clottey .

He told the court that the victim used to play with her peers around the convict’s area.
On July 7, 2020, Chief Inspector Atimbire said the victim was frying pancake when Clottey requested to buy some and also told her to bring the pancake to his house.

He told the court that when the victim went to give the pancake to Clottey in the company of her peers, he told her peers to wait outside, adding that “Clottey lured the victim into his room, removed her dress and pant and had sexual intercourse with her.”

Chief Inspector Atimbire said after the act, Clottey gave the victim GHC 3.00.

On July 19, 2020, the prosecutor said the victim informed her grandmother about her ordeal, stating that the convict had sex with her in his room on five different occasions after which the grandmother also disclosed the news to the victim’s parents.

Clottey was later arrested and arraigned before court.
