Ghanaians treat comedians like trash - Ajeezay

Ghanaian comedian, 'Ajeezay the Nonfa King", has cried out at the unfair treatment Ghanaian comedians receive form the public.

The fast-rising comedian, whose real name is Nathaniel Mensah, explained that Ghanaians treat comedians like animals although they use their hilarious jokes to get relief in times of stress and pain.

He noted that Ghanaians feel that comedy is for unserious people who otherwise don't have the ability to make it in life.

“Seriously some people think that being a comedian means you are not serious in life or you’re some kind of a disappointment to your family so they don’t treat you with the dignity and respect that every human being deserves.”

“If you ask the Doctor, Lawyer, and all the highly revered professionals in Ghana that what do they use to relieve stress and boredom they’ll tell you it’s comedy," he said.

“Which means that despite being treated as riffraff we’re still very necessary and relevant in the lives of many people when it comes to their leisure time. So we ought to be treated with dignity,”

Ghana has 17 prominent comedians with others coming in through the system. With the likes of Clemento Suarez, Funny Face, DKB amongst others lifting Ghana's flag high. These comedians have to provide running entertainment to their fans by making jokes out of everything, including their very own lives.

This is the rationale behind Ajeezay's claim, as he lamented that nobody takes him serious because they feel his life is a joke.
