Year of Roads: Hon. Patricia Appiagyei applauds Nana Addo for rehabilitation on Asokwa Roads

The Member of Parliament for the Asokwa Constituency, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei has asserted that the Year of Roads assurance made by the president of Ghana is not a fantasy; however, they are works to be accomplished to efficiently sustain and stimulate the economic and social development of Ghana.

The Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology has, therefore, asked her constituents and the whole of Ghana to convey their gratitude by retaining Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in office during the December 7 polls.

 

 

Hon. Patricia spoke these words during the sod-cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation of some selected roads under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) in the Asokwa Municipality.

“What we have witnessed is a true indication that Nana Addo is a man of action who makes sure that when he speaks, there is a sure execution.

"The New Patriotic Party does not live in another man’s shadow that is why we make sure to implement whatever we promise Ghanaians,” she said.

 

 

The Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) is a World Bank initiative credited to the government of Ghana to help strengthen local systems and focus on municipal assemblies by providing them incentives to improve their performance as city managers. The program also assists Regional and National institutions to provide municipal assemblies with the support needed for effective urban management and service delivery.

The road face-lifting is a seven months duration-project and includes the stretch from Afanko Junction to Pentecost Last stop in the Kumasi suburb. The Gyenyaase-Milano avenue will also be renovated to Karikari Farms whiles the Asokwa extension, which is the Agyaba street to the Gate opposite the City Mall in also involved.

 

 

Hon Patricia Appiagyei commended Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for attending to one of most sought necessities of residents in the Municipality and explained that had it not been the various treats which delayed implementation on the part of government, the road would have been done by now.

“The people of Asokwa have been lamenting on the poor state of roads for two years now. I assured them to exercise patience for the government is en route to get tour roads transformed.

“The president has heard our cry and has allocated to us funds to renovate these secondary cities promoted by the World Bank which is about a five-kilometer stretch of road.

“Its implementation really took some time due to the various processes to finally get the job started. We understood that the project would begin last year September but for the best reasons it took a while,” she said.

 

 

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Hon. Akwanuasa Gyimah implored traders who reside in temporal permit structures to move out to enable the commencement of works. He snubbed any request of compensation to sellers and updated the gathering that the renovation is for the benefit of the community.

“We are beseeching traders in kiosk and structures that are of temporal permit to vacate before the project begin. There is no compensation in this therefore sellers should refrain from pleads through chiefs.

 

 

“Such acts will not be accepted for the reason that this is a project embarked by the government for the benefit of the community,” he added.

The MCE explained that the renovation of the road will be of first-class hoping to last for more than two decades.

"The president has requested that these roads should be done better.  

"The inclusion of maintenance will improve its existence for more than 35 years," he added.
