WMA engages Tricycle Riders On The New Directive

Management of the Wenchi Assembly has held stakeholders' meetings with Tricycle (Pragya/Okada) owners and riders in the Municipality.

The meeting, among other purposes, discussed operation permits, security, and other regulatory issues governing their operations in the Municipality for the year 2022 and beyond.
In an address delivered on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive Alexander Obour Damoah urged owners and operators of the tricycles to be disciplined, decent, law-abiding, and prioritize the life and security of commuters/passengers during their operations. He appreciated the work of the tricycles as augmentation of commercial vehicles in intra-transport business which has saved the commuting public from cost burden, frustrations, and struggle.

The Municipal Coordinating Director Douglas N.K Annoful announced the new operation permits policy where all tricycles would acquire their operation permits once but renewable every year which includes all the daily market/station tolls.
This means that tricycles would no longer pay daily tolls after registering for the Assembly's Embossment.
The embossment has the Municipal Assembly logo and some hidden security features. The registration and issuance of the Operating Permits/Embossment would help identify the number and data on commercial tricycles operating in the Municipality.
It also would help passengers in a critical situation to easily identify tricycles they commute. It would again help regulate and ensure effective monitoring.

The Municipal Commander DSP Eric Avudzivi and MTTD Commander DSP Kofi Oduro Amponsah of the Ghana Police Service took turns to advise the riders on Road Safety Regulations and security consciousness during their operations.
The Police urged owners and the operators to acquire Licence, Road Worthy, and Insurance Certificates. The Police warned strongly to deal with recalcitrant riders operating illegally.

The Secretary of the Motor Owners & Tricycle Riders Association (MONTRA GH) J. K Mensah advised all motor owners and tricycle riders to register with the umbrella Association.
