Wiyaala "roars" at the event organizer, "I'm not a backup artist, put my image at the right place"

Ghanaian musician Wiyaala expresses her dissatisfaction about having her picture placed behind other artists on a promotional piece by threatening to cancel a scheduled performance.

Wiyaala "roars" at the event organizer, "I'm not a backup artist, put my image at the right place"

The lioness of Africa, Wiyaala, affectionately known, expressed her disapproval in a Facebook post, writing, "To be honest, I'm not happy with this poster circulating on social media." Put my picture where it belongs, or I'm out. I'm not a backup artiste.

The advertisement that irritated Wiyaala was a banner for Safarifest, an upcoming event hosted by Royal Cosy Hills Safari Resort in Jirapa, Upper West district.

Images of the four artists on the bill were displayed, with Kuami Euegene trailing behind Samini. Wiyaala comes in last and is obviously upset about it, implying that others only see her as a backup performer.

Wiyaala's post generated a range of responses, with some observers pointing out that her placement on the flier didn't enhance or diminish her worth as a musician.

Samini's response

But to calm down tempers, Samini has rendered an unqualified to Wiyaala, explaining that he wasn’t aware of circulation of the artwork.

“I’m honestly not aware of this particular artwork dear sis. Will get the organizers to do the needful. They didn’t even ask me for a picture for this particular artwork. Whoever did it decided to change my #SaminiFest to #safarifest. #safarifest is also my concept but not for January 1st. I wonder who directed and approved this to be shared but All those details need to be addressed before there can be a show. Pls accept my apology and trust me to get them to pull this down asap. Stay blessed and see you in #jirapa soon ❤️????????????✊???? (sic),” he posted on Facebook.

Wiyaala accepted Samini’s apology and also took down the post to amicably resolve issues.
