Barcelona are at it again with Georginio Wijnaldum as the Liverpool player’s contract keeps stalling.

The Dutchman’s signed a five-year contract in 2016 for the Champions from Newcastle United and has the current deal due at the end of the season.

The player will be able to start talking to other clubs in January, with Ronald Koeman still monitoring his situation at Anfield in the quest to secure his services to the Camp Nou.

The 30-year-old is an admirer of the former Netherlands national team head coach and he was a topmost priority for the Catalan club when he took over the Barcelona job from Quique Setien.

Liverpool will be looking forward to either cash in on the player in January than to wait for the season to end without getting a penny. His role this season for the Reds has been immense and Klopp is well aware of his importance and has reportedly asked for one final big-money proposal to be put to the player to keep him at Anfield.

Although he has been underrated in the Reds successes at Anfield - winning the Premier League and Champions, League yet his role is versatile and his distribution from the midfield department has been exceptional which has led to reaping greater benefits.

The former Newcastle man has been involved in every league game for the Reds so far yet he is still not certain about what the future holds for him since the arrival of Thiago Alcantara and few options for the Reds midfield.

Sky Sports reports that he has asked the Reds to give him a week to decide his future as a renewal offer pends on the table.

He has made 205 features for the Reds and scored 17 in all competitions.
