Most people previously wore nose and face masks as part of their pandemic -altered routine and it was estimated that about 95% of Ghanaians were using masks with even Americans recording percentage rate of 67%.

But currently, there are majority of people who don’t, and their voices as protestations are getting louder. The push back against the simple face-covering often hides many bones of contention.

Studies in different countries have highlighted interesting trends within this movement, and In Ghana, especially in the Eastern as well as Greater Accra regions of Ghana, it is becoming a norm to move freely without wearing a nose mask as compared to about five months ago.

A tour to these two regions has shown that the fear of the pandemic has vanished among ages between 5-50 years.

People who patronised commercial transports (Trotro) went freely without wearing masks and no security personnel showed concern about the offenders even though the security officer were always in masks.

This revelation came up after several checks in the commercial cars, tool booths, and a number of checkpoints on the Accra, Aburi, Obosomase, through to Koforidua the regional capital of the eastern region, been a Taxi, trotro or cargo and Markets in the eastern region are no exception. 

Most people blame the politicians for the non-compliance of the Covid 19 safety protocol's.

 Moreover, on average, about 15% of passengers in commercial cars that ply Koforidua-Akuapem Manfe -and Accra- Akropong roads used nose masks, only the aged complied with the use of face/nose mask and if the government wishes to fight Covid 19 pandemic in Ghana, then the president must act now before it gets out of hand.

Meanwhile, the President in his 21st nation address made it emphatically clear that enforcement of our safety protocol's is they key in the fight of this dangerous pandemic, so to leave masks behind in larger numbers as time goes on is Dangerous.
