Former President, John Dramani Mahama has expressed his warmest gratitude to Voltarians for not disappointing him in the 2020 Presidential Election despite much military intimidation.

According to him, the Voltarians have done extremely well during the 2020 general election despite the Government's deployment of military men to intimidate them.

According to the Former President, who was the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 General Election, despite all the intimidation from the government to Voltarians in the run-up to the election, they stood by him and voted massively for the NDC.

The former President noted that the government intentionally brought a lot of soldiers to intimidate Voltarians during the registration for the voter's ID card but that did not stop them from struggling to get the necessary documents to vote for the NDC.

Speaking in Ho as part of his tour, he said, the votes obtained from the Volta Region has played a significant role in pushing the NDC to the 6 million-plus votes they have gotten as compared to the little over 4 million they got in 2016.

He also thanked them for giving the NDC 17 out of the 18 Parliamentary seats in the Region.

“The NDC party will never take the support of the Voltarians for granted," he said.

The former President believes NDC would have won the Hohoe constituency seat too if not for the arm twisting that took place in the Hohoe constituency in the run-up to the 2020 elections.

He made these statements in an interview with Ho based Global FM as he toured the region.

The former president John Dramani Mahama finally called on all Voltarians to continue to be the backbone of the NDC party and stay United with each other.
