Six years after being severely hurt in an explosion in 2010, Dave met the Queen at Windsor Castle.

Veterans Dave Cartwright from Exeter and Gareth Jones from Swansea, who had not seen one another in 21 years, came together to honor the Queen.

They have been waiting for their commander-in-coffin chiefs to pass by for hours near the Cenotaph.

"We just felt we had to come here when we learned Mom had passed away," explains Gareth.

We had to travel to Whitehall to bid the boss farewell because we were around five minutes late for Westminster Hall.

Both participated in Afghanistan's Royal Army Medical Corps.

"She spoke to you as though she didn't care about anyone else. Although she was modest in stature—speaking to her was like talking to your grandmother—she exuded a powerful presence. We will miss her terribly.
