Some aged women in Awudome Avewui within the Ho West District of the Volta Region are being given vocational skills training free of charge with an aim of empowering them economically.

The women most of whom were widows and single mothers received training in pastry, baking, liquid soap making among other local detergents.

The beneficiaries were taken through about a month of intensive training and were later inaugurated as a social group.

According to these women, the knowledge they’ve acquired gives them a new hope hence they will make use of it for their survival.

The training was organized by a non-profit making organization, Dorcas Foundation under the auspices of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ho.

Rev. Mrs Nyuieme Adiepena is the Women Program Officer of the E.P Church in Ho District speaking after inaugurating the group urged the beneficiaries to uphold the training to enable them to feed themselves and their children.

She also appealed to the government to focus on the aged and make a provision for them.
