Memphis Depay reminded his national side captain, Virgil van Dijk that he is not alone in his rehabilitation following the injury sustained in the Merseyside Derby.

The Lyon forward was opened the scores against Monaco on Sunday in the 12-minute and revealed his support for the Liverpool defender.

Underneath his jersey were the words “Virgil, stay strong my brother,” proclaiming how much the 29-year-old is versatile in world football and the Dutch national team.

Van Dijk damaged his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) during Liverpool’s 2-2 fixture with Everton last week after a fiery challenge by Jordan Pickford on the defender in the yard.

The Ghanaian born had already expressed his love for Van Dijk last Monday after hearing the news of his injury.

"Sad and emotional when I heard the news but after prayer, I realized that Through struggles and pain we found our way to success!" he tweeted.

"God don’t make mistakes he’s been in your life since the beginning and will now get you through this my G! Everyone is behind you big man!"

The player is set to undergo surgery this week and is not expected on the pitch anytime soon as he focuses on his healing.
