Ekow Sampson, the Ghana Tourism Authority's (GTA) deputy director in charge of operations, said the week's celebrations were intended to pique interest in local consumption and support the local economy.

Last year, Chocolate Week was established to replace National Cocoa Day, which was established in 2005 to be celebrated on February 14th, Valentine's Day, to the citizens' health.

During this year's National Chocolate Week celebration, chocolate and cocoa products have become an important element of the gifts.

To commemorate National Chocolate Day, the Ghana Tourism Authority delivered chocolate and chocolate-based items to the National Chief Imam, Sheik Nuhu Osman Shaributu.

The products delivered to the National Chief Imam are part of the festivities commemorating National Chocolate Day and acquainting the Muslim community with chocolate.

On behalf of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ekow Sampson, Deputy Director in Charge of Operations, presented the items.

The theme for the 2022 edition is "Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, Grow Ghana," and it will be launched at the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm by Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

He urged tourism clubs to extend the campaign to townships and villages.
