The masses of the Savelugu constituency in the Northern region in the run-up to the 2020 general elections appealed for some social amenities.

The concerns included grinding mills, dams, electricity, roads amongst many.

The Member of Parliament, MP for the area, Honourable Alhaji Abdulai Iddris Gwubekpan in fulfilling the problems of the communities presented grinding mills to Nakpanzoo, Gbaga, and Zashei communities each.

In addition, the MP gave a packet of roofing sheets each and a cash amount of GHC1, 000 each to support the construction of a shelter for the grinding mills.

He, therefore, appealed to the people of the various communities to support the development drive especially in the construction of dams, making self-contributions.

“I want to encourage you people to be making contributions little, so that if you have some money at hand then I can come to support in getting the dam constructed” he added.

The communities’ members shown their heartfelt appreciation to the MP because walking several miles to access a grinding mill was a major problem for them.

The MP also donated a generator to the Saga community, for them to be using to charge their mobile phones and any other activity that needs electricity. Hon Alhaji Gwubekpan however asked the rest of the communities within the Savelugu constituency to exercise restrain as their problems would be solved in due time.

He said the challenges needs a strategic leader like him to change the narration of the constituency to better the lives of the area.

The MP similarly in a short ceremony handed over 100-bed sheets and pillowcases and 2 cartons of streetlights bulbs to the government district hospital at Savelugu.

According to him, the gesture would go a long way to aid the hospital with inadequate bed sheets and pillowcases. Alhaji Gwubekpan appeal to all indigenes of Savelugu both far and near to always extend a philanthropic hand to support the hospital by donating consumables or non-consumables.

He, therefore, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of the Savelugu Municipal hospital for their sense of professionalism. 

Receiving the items, the Medical Superintendent of the Savelugu Municipal hospital, Dr Amankwah on behalf of the hospital thanked MP for making such a donation at the time the hospital needed the bedsheets most.

He said the MP has always been supportive of the hospital and also promised to deliver some of the requests the hospital made to him. The Medical Supt said the hospital is providing the best care and getting patients even in Tamale.       

A representative of NDC professionals in the Savelugu Municipality, Mr Ayinga Anafo Matthias thanked the MP for his continuous support to health facilities in the Savelugu Municipality.

He added that the MP supported facilities during the COVID-19 peak and further promised to help in the construction of a garage for parking to curtain stealing of motorbikes at the hospital and others also supporting the children’s clinic’s renovation.
