The Member of Parliament for the Tolon Constituency, Honourable Habib Iddrisu on Friday, June 11, 2021, donated 2,000 tree seedlings to mark Green Ghana Day in the constituency.

The seedlings were presented on behalf of the MP by the Constituency Secretary, Dr Hudu Zakaria.

Dr Hudu Zakaria after the presentation admonished the residents and personnel of the forestry Commission to sustain the president's initiative.

1,000 of the seedlings were planted last Friday by the youth in afforestation at Jagbo Shrine, where the Paramount Chief of Tolon Traditional Area had allocated 50acres of land for the Green Ghana project.

The remaining 1000 seedlings were planted in other parts of the constituency.

The aim of the initiative is to get an overwhelming majority of Ghanaians to participate in and assume ownership of the tree planting exercise.

The program, dubbed as ‘Green Ghana, Let's Go Planting’ is also part of a strategy to embark on aggressive afforestation to protect forests and the environment in Ghana.
