Suaman District at10: DCE Touts Achievements of Creating the District

In an introspect to memory, the Suaman District was a joint district with Aowin, that was located in the Western Region as Aowin-Seaman District, currently in Western North Region.

However, on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Aowin District (capital: Enchi) and Seaman District which have its capital; Dadieso.

The district assembly is located in the southern part of the Western North Region and it is one of the nine districts in the Region of Ghana.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Seaman, Honorable  Philip Boahen, has touted the achievements of the district since its creation in 10 years under various sectors of leadership over the past years.

He said the Assembly, against all odds through the past leaders exerted to sustain the substantial needs of the people of Seaman through multifaceted developmental projects in the district.

Honorable Boahen reiterated that the fore leaders rudiment the needs of the district aught be applauded for urging to abate infrastructural deficit in areas such as education, health and paid special attention to facilities to enhance the the the the the growth of the district.

Amongst key achievements by the district, according to the DCE, in an interview with Appiah Kubi, the Anopa Nkomo show host at Tain FM includes education, health, jobs, water and sanitation, and roads.

"The impact might sound too small but we exalt when we introspect to know of how we're excelling and I hope in gradual exertion, we shall make it as we want", he stated.

The DCE revealed that they are constructing teachers' quarters across the district to bring teachers closer to the pupils, as well as providing classroom blocks to enhance teaching and learning.

Regarding health care, the DCE disclosed that they have equipped CHIPS compounds to make health care more effective with the construction of the district hospital, as most communities have been connected to the national electricity grid.

He added, "There are challenges with water and so we've provided boreholes and some other water logistics to enhance water growth in the district".

The DCE further propagated that the district in its 10 years had also provided job opportunities for the youth through entrepreneurship skill training and especially, agricultural activities.

Outlining some projects by the district, Hon. Boahen said many of the major town roads linked to other districts and principal towns have been constructed with bitumen where few are under construction.

Touching the challenges in the district, Hon. Boahen said the district Assembly's Internally Generated Funds (IGF) had been low, and in the absence of sustainable inflows of IGF, the source of funding apart from the common funds becomes difficult and aggravates development, but the district's strategies putting in place will help to plug the loopholes.

He further urged to help the district in seeking private partnerships to upgrade its potential as the Seaman District is arguably becoming a fast-growing district.
