Speaker Of Parliament Dress Like A King To Parliament

Ghanaian Speaker of Parliament, Right Honorable Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford has broken the norm by showing up for the second session dressed as a traditional chief.

Alban Bagbin’s entry into the chamber was met with praise from the minority side of the house as his usual ceremonial outfit was missing and in place, he had put on the traditional Kente over a white short-sleeved shirt with a chief’s crown.

Today members of parliament reconvene to discuss e-levy and other business of the house.

The speaker did not disappoint Ghanaians today as he promised. His Kente cloth and gold jewelry with his crown caused many Ghanaians to react massively to his dressing.

Some Ghanaians blasted Alban Bagbin because they believed he wanted to send a message to Ghana that he is the King of the country and he rules over the President himself.

Others also praised him for promoting the Ghanaian culture more than his forerunners.

Recall that the Speaker has since promised Ghanaians and has been speaking as part of this year 2022, that he stop wearing his speakers cloak for regular parliament proceedings but he will wear it during ceremonial occasions

He has also encouraged members of the house to wear traditional wear for sitting.
