The Communication Team Member for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kobby Acheampong has described the nomination of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCES) as an agenda to appoint people who will vote for Dr Mahamud Bawumia against Alan in the 2024 Presidential race.

“Since the MMDCEs forms part of the Electoral College for the Presidential flagbearership election, Dr Bawumia has already gotten 260 votes secured for him, is this not Job for the boys, he squeezed”.

He believes President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo wasted the time of Ghanaians only to present them with nominees who cannot perform as some of them do not have any track records to show for their competence.

Speaking on Ark FM Issues monitored by Soiree News, Kobby Acheampong accused the government of delaying the nomination of the various MMDCEs just to delay the delay of the District Assembly Common Fund disbursement as the country is facing economic crises.

He was not satisfied with the entire list citing the nomination of MCE for Sunyani East Municipal Assembly, Hon Ansu Kumi as an example saying, he does not have records of good leadership and developmental project.

“What can Ansu Kumi boost of as an initiative under his watch as an Assembly Member, a former presiding Member and in all the numerous positions held in the New Patriotic Party (NPP)”, Mr Acheampong asked rhetorically.

Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Asare Bediako Seth is hopeful the nominees will perform the task saying the list was put together by larger consultations with stakeholders.

On his part, the chairman for the Conventions Peoples (PNC), Mr Ali Deyinde called on the Regional Minister Madam Justina Owusu Banahene to make it a habit to continuously visit the various Assemblies in the Region to keep them on their toes.
